Fred Hogue

Frederick E. Hogue, 86, of Wayne Township passed away peacefully Thursday, July 8th, 2021 at the VA Medical Center in Oakland.

He was born on July 4th, 1935 in Ellwood City, a son of the late Raymond Hogue and Mabel Hogue (Strouse)

He married Carol L. Hogue on July 1, 1960. She died on July 9th, 2021. He was reunited with her in heaven less than twenty four hours after his death. They spent 61 years together on earth and are now together for eternity.

Fred graduated from Lincoln High School in 1954. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Richardson, Anchorage, Alaska. After an honorable discharge from the Army, Fred was a General Foreman at Ellwood City Iron and Wire.

Fred loved the outdoors, especially hunting and Muskie fishing in Canada. He adored his three granddaughters. Fred was a member of Slippery Rock Presbyterian Church and Masonic Lodge #599.

Survivors include a son, Jon Hogue of Wayne Township. A daughter Cara Florie, son-in-law David Florie of Ellwood City, three granddaughters Francesca and Talia Florie and Delaney Hogue, nephew David Hogue (Jill), nieces Karen (Hogue) Johnston (Bryon), and Jane (Hogue) Moore (Curtis) and their children.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Donald R. Hogue.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Thursday, July 15th at Slippery Rock Presbyterian Church, Pastor Carolyn Moss officiant. Family visitation begins at 10:00am followed by the service at 11:00am.
