Donald Warren Shaffer passed away Friday January 9, 2009. He was born May 14, 1935 to the late Ralph C. and Ada f. Fisher Shaffer. He graduated from Geneva College and received his Master's Degree from Westminister. He served as a cryptographer in the U.S. Army, and a teacher in the Ellwood Area School District, Surviving are his wife; Trudi A. Hop Shaffer, son and daughter in law Warren and Marcy of Mars, Pa. Son Brandon of Beaver, Pa., and daughter and son in law Tricia and Jay Smith, of Chippewa, Pa.

This is Tom Shaffer and various classmates used to ask if Warren and I were related which, if we were, we never figured it out. Some thought Vice-Principal Ralph Shaffer was my dad when he was actually Warren's dad. Another Shaffer in the Class of '53 was Jean Shaffer but again as far as we knew, the 3 of us were not related to each other. I miss both Warren and Jean.
P.S. Although his first name is Donald, we all knew him as Warren which he preferred.
